Answer the following questions. Excellent answers will be composed of at least two well-structured paragraphs for each question, will be free of grammatical and spelling errors, and MUST provide evidence of your understanding of how government works (use the lingo, refer to the three branches).  Use of AIs or text generators are absolutely prohibited and will be penalized with a zero. Avoid copying and pasting as you must use your own words.
Describe how the bureaucracy works. In what ways can the Congress limit the influence of the bureaucracy? In what ways can the president limit the influence of the bureaucracy? Explain what the Iron Triangle is and use one specific governmental department or issue as an example.
How does the Supreme Court and their decisions affect you and your future?  List at least one Supreme Court case that can have a personal effect on you.  Does it matter who the president appoints to the SCOTUS? Why?  Why not?  Should there be specific requirements in the US Constitution for Supreme Court Justices?
What Civil Liberties issue do you deeply care about?  Why must the limits of government power be constantly challenged and tested?  Are our freedoms free or is there a societal and judiciary cost to what we can achieve in terms of liberties? What particular areas of oppression does our democracy need to work on? Why? Reflect on recent events to inform your answer.
What are the biggest influences on political ideology and why are Americans polarized?  What is the remedy for incivility?  What would the Founding Fathers say (specifically Hamilton, Madison, Franklin, Washington, and Jefferson, in your opinion)?
Finally, consider whether you agree with a Democratic system of government.  Does democracy work?  Is there a better system? What challenges does our nation face in the near future? What conclusions may we draw from this year’s primary presidential season, the main candidates, and the events of January 6th, 2021?
