Your resume should reflect you, but here are some tips:
Look online for good resume examples – you are sending it to a specific person in response to an opening so it can have attractive formatting
Put your best selling feature first – might be education (BBA), might be work experience. You might have different resumes for different jobs. If your volunteer work is more important for a specific job than your education, then list that first.
Within a category, list things in reverse chronological order (most recent at the top)
Don’t include your high school information
Use 1 inch margins on all 4 sides
Don’t use too many different fonts and sizes – it’s distracting
Make sure you use past tense if you list activities under previous jobs (supervised, created, etc.)
Often employers request a 1 page resume, but if you absolutely need to, you can have 2 pages.
If you go to 2 pages, make sure you have your name on the second page.
Proofread VERY CAREFULLY!
If you have a resume already, that’s great! You can just update it and submit it to the Career center.
