• According to the assigned materials, what were considered the “appropriate” gender roles for men and women in the 1950s? What roles were adult men and women expected to play within a marriage?
• How were teenagers socialized to conform to traditional male and female roles? What lessons were supposed to be learned from dating?
• If one did not conform to traditional gender roles in the 1950s, one risked being thought gay or lesbian. Why was this considered a problem in the 1950s?
