Several of the films use off-screen voice over as an important technique. Analyze the use of this on at least two of the films screened for the course.
Many of our films are works that reflect, directly or indirectly, actual historical circumstances. Examine at least two of our films from the point of view of the historical conditions reflected in these works.
A number of our films reflect a sense of a kind of “challenged
masculinity,” of men needing to deal with challenges to their
traditional authority or place in society. Explore this aspect in at least
three films screened for the course.
Often we discussed the innovative narrative (storytelling) strategies seen in our films. Talk about the narrative structures of at least two of our films, and how these narrative structures impact our experience of the films.
