Development Time & Action Calendar
Overview
Each category of product has different market, delivery, and promotion calendars. Before product arrives in store, the product needs to be designed, samples need to be approved, the line will be shown at market, the product manufactured, and then shipped.
Directions
Using this template Download this template, build a time & action calendar that that lays out when your final project licensee will need contact time with the licensor for two major seasonal deliveries appropriate to your product (Fall & Spring, for example). This will give both parties an understanding of their obligations to meet contractual deadlines.
Research your final project category’s market dates by looking into their trade magazines and determine and when product will be in store (think about it: toys in store for the holidays, swimsuits for early spring, back-to-school items in early August, etc.) For purposes of this project, assume it takes 60 days to make a prototype, “market week” is 2 business weeks long, and it takes 120 days for factories to produce and ship product to the US.
