Nursing Initial Assessment Assignment Instructions
For this assignment, you will be doing a nursing assessment on a family member or friend. You will need access to this person for a future assignment as well, where you will be recording yourself teaching them, so please keep that in mind when picking someone.
·       Using the skills and knowledge you have gained this term, perform a nursing assessment on your chosen person and fill out the form provided.
·       Choosing someone who has some disease process might make this easier.
·       As always, include a title page and page numbers in APA format.
It will be easier to interview someone with some medical problems, but it isn’t required.
In this first portion of the assignment, you will fill out the included template based on an assessment of your chosen person. You will act as if you are admitting this patient to the hospital and performing the initial comprehensive assessment.
Please interview your designated person and complete the assessment. Be as thorough as possible. This information will be used later in future assignments.
Patient Education Section (Last section)
·       You will complete this section based on the assessment you just performed and using your client education book as a reference.
·       Based on their assessment, what things could you teach this patient? What would they benefit from learning?
·       Per the APA, in-text citations and references are required. Remember evidence-based practice (EBP) when performing assessments and selecting interventions. Use published peer-reviewed articles, books, and ATI (general websites are not appropriate references).
