M.D. is a 58-year-old male
who came into the hospital experiencing right calf pain but also complaining of
right hip pain that gets worse with exercise. The pain does not go away promptly
with rest, some days are worse than others. The pain began approximately 1 year
ago but has become significantly worse in the past 4 months. The pain is precipitated
by exercise and is relieved with rest. One year ago, M.D. could walk 3-4 blocks
before having to stop because of leg pain. Today, he can barely walk across the
yard. He has a history of hypertension (HTN), hyperlipidemia (HLD), chronic
kidney disease (CKD), coronary artery disease (CAD), and diabetes mellitus (DM). He has a surgical history of an open reduction and internal fixation
of a right femoral fracture 17 years ago. 
Diagnosis of osteoarthritis and pain.
