Lesson 5 Discussion: Early Adulthood and Cognitive Development
Early adulthood is often characterized by cognitive advances. It is also characterized by challenges in balancing school, work/career, and family. Family challenges may include marriage and parenthood.
For your initial post, respond to the following items:
Explain and discuss relativistic thinking, reflective judgment, and cognitive-affective complexity. Does relativistic thinking mean you agree with and support all other perspectives?
In what ways might cognitive-affective complexity help one to balance school, work/career, family, and associated stressors? Explain.
Reflect on ways you are currently balancing school with your other responsibilities.
In your two peer replies, be respectful and sensitive to viewpoints.  Advance the discussion as follows:
Explain and provide an example of someone using reflective judgment to make a choice or decision.
Offer alternative viewpoints, examples, and further discussion on the topic.
