In this final reflective essay you must write a 7 to 10 page (double spaced) paper addressing the following questions and incorporating at least 10 resources from the course cited properly (this can be readings, videos, etc. and you can use APA, Chicago, etc.):
Now that you are heading off into life after graduation, describe how you will take the concepts learned in this course and your overall studies at Cal into your future work and life as a member of a global community. These sub-questions should be addressed in your response, but you do not need to address them in order.
How has your understanding of the concept of globalization changed due to exposure to the course readings and how do you see yourself as an actor in an increasingly globalized world? Think through Steger´s concepts related to globalism, globality, etc.
How does an understanding of cosmopolitanism shift how you see yourself in relation to others, and what kinds of educational experiences in and outside of schools have shaped your worldview?
Prior to this course, how did you understand the concept of global social justice, and how has that shifted due to the readings regarding the Capabilities Approach?
How has your understanding of cultural practices shifted, if at all, and how can you be an active agent in shaping and reforming harmful cultural practices (note, you must be very specific here, do not generalize to ethnicity or fun, food and festivals)?
In what ways, if any, did your work on the data analysis assignment raise your awareness of global inequality in terms of SDGs on quality education and advancing gender equality?
How do you connect the ideas and lessons from this course to your major field of study (e.g. Sociology, English, Media Studies, etc.).
While you may not know exactly what your future plans are, regardless of your next steps for career and life, please list any ways that you can apply the course ideas to your thoughts and actions? What ways do you think and act now that you are a Cal alumni?
