Final Paper (40 Points) – Due 6/18
Each student will write an individually authored policy analysis paper addressing the US social policy of their group.
Comprehensive Description (including relevant statistics, date, demographics, etc.) of the policy from both federal and state of California vantage
Policy Analysis using model developed in class
Goals – What are the goals of the policy or program? What is the logical link between the goals and positive outcomes for clients?
Benefits/Services – What benefits or services does the policy provide?
Eligibility Rules – What are the eligibility rules? In other words, who gets the benefits or services?
Service Delivery System – How are services/benefits delivered?
Financing – How are services/benefits financed?
Outcomes & Feedback
What evidence is there that each element of the policy leads to positive outcomes for the client population, is cost-effective, and is sustainable?
Is the policy politically, socially, and economically feasible?
Does the policy incorporate key social work values such as self-determination and social justice?
How is the target/client population involved in evaluating the policy/program?
What are Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality implications? How can a Critical Race Theory, and Intersectionality lens be integrated as part of the analysis?
