1). What do you think makes essays interesting, enjoyable, and effective? What characteristics or stylistic features engage you as a reader?

2). What is your favorite piece of writing to read? Is there a poem, novel, article, blog, column, essay, specific writer, etc. that you return to? Why do you think this writing sustains your interest?

If you can’t really think in terms of writing, expand to other modes. What about dialogue in a movie/tv show? Or comics/graphic novels? Or stand-up comics? Or song lyrics? That counts as writing too.
