These instructions reflect a task our writers previously completed for another student. Should you require assistance with the same assignment, please submit your homework details to our writers’ platform. This will ensure you receive an original paper, you can submit as your own. For further guidance, visit our ‘How It Works’ page.

Considering course readings and additional sources outside of our course materials, observe and analyze families on video (media), choose three (3) families in the media (television, radio, movies, etc.). For example, a family in the media may be The Huxtable Family from The Cosby Show, The Bundys from Married…With Children, and/or The Simpsons from The Simpsons. Now, you cannot choose these shows since I listed them for you. There are plenty of other shows that you can choose from.
Using your sociological imagination and incorporating a sociological theoretical perspective, analyze how the family of your chosen shows are depicted. You should choose a movie or television show depicting a “family” from any time frame. Observe, examine, and report on the family dynamics, i.e., mother, father, single mother, single father, same sex parents, etc., culture, values, socioeconomic status, religious, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, rituals, interactions, trends, and relate how is this family being depicted in the media similar or not to current trends, notions, ideologies about “the family” in American society.
Consider these questions and feel free to include many of your own:
Who are they, (i.e., from which t.v. show)?
How do they define family?
Who is the head of the family?
Who makes the decisions for the family?
How many children are in the family?
Are the parents successful, professional, blue-collar? How does their socio-economic status affect their family dynamics?
What societal issues are depicted on the show?
What sociological theory explains this family’s interactions? (This question is mandatory).
Can you relate to this family from your own family’s interactions, cultural traditions, familial expectations, etc.?
Is this a good representation of family in the media and why or why not?
In your PowerPoint, tell us who are the families (be as creative as possible), address the questions, apply themes from the classroom and/or text to your observations of the family in the media. You must have references for your PowerPoint Presentation.
FAMILIES ACROSS CULTURES IN THE MEDIA Research Project PowerPoint will be due on June 24th @ 11:59 p.m.
