Choose a kindergarten through third grade level and thematic topic for this assignment.
Select 3 to 5 pieces of children’s literature that would be appropriate for your chosen grade level and thematic topic. Consider selecting books from different genres that relate to your chosen topic. For example, if you choose the topic of transportation, you could select an informational text on trains, a fictional book involving cars, or an Amelia Earhart biography.
Create an outline of a literature-based thematic unit using your selected children’s literature. This will not be a complete thematic unit; rather, it will just be an outline of ideas for the unit.
Note: Your outline does not have to be written in a traditional outline format. You can also use a graphic organizer or presentation medium to share your information.

Grade level and thematic topic
At least 2 reading and 2 writing standards to be addressed in the unit
An anticipatory set (i.e., activity or introduction) to get students excited about the unit and the books they will be reading
A 150- to 175-word paragraph describing a reading skill or strategy and a writing skill or strategy you could teach with each book and how you would teach them (1 paragraph per book)
A 150- to 175-word paragraph describing 2 connections to technology you can make within the unit
A 150- to 175-word paragraph describing 2 assessments you would use to measure student learning during the unit, including a description of the assessment, how to administer it, and the skills it would assess
Cite the children’s literature and any other resources used in the assignment.
Format citations and references according to APA guidelines for all children’s literature used in the unit.
