Choose a change event and describe how the Intervention Strategy Model
might be applied.
The Intervention Strategy Model (ISM) was introduced in Week 5 and is described fully in the course textbook.
(McCalman and Paton, 2016)
1. Now walk through the event using ISM as a guide, following each step of the intervention, as appropriate, analysing how the change was managed.
You may also use other models and tools introduced in the course. Critically reflect on both the approach and outcome.
2. Having framed a critique around ISM now suggest how you would have approached the event with the benefit of hindsight. Assess the performance
of the change management, recommending alternative courses of action and/or highlighting best practice.
You should adopt a report style: set the scene, detail the history, examine and critique the outcomes, detail the lessons learnt, and suggest a way forward.
It is your thoughts, reasoning, and recommendations that will count. Identify an element of your analysis that you consider key, then go deeper into this
element – depth not breadth.
Support your arguments with articles from the course and associated readings, feel free to go beyond the course materials and conduct further research.
The word count is 2,500 +/- !0%, not including references, tables, diagrams, pictorial representations, appendices et al.
Change Event Definition
The change event that you choose is up to you. It might be a topical change event of interest to you or connected with your work. The trigger could be Zero
Emissions , Covid, or BREXIT. Analyse how you, an organisation, or an industry, is tackling the change. Identify and evaluate the rationale, objectives,
planning activities, and implementation strategies.
Remember: It is important to make reference to the application of the principles of the Intervention Strategy Model.
