For this essay, you will read the attached article and write a short essay that is complete (has a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion) and includes the following:
A summary of the author’s main idea (thesis), reasoning, and support.
Your own response to the author’s argument including your reasoning (you do not need to research and add outside support for this diagnostic essay).
At least one direct quote and one paraphrase, correctly integrated and documented.
A Work Cited page using MLA 8th edition (it will have just the information from the assigned article)
The structure of the paper is up to you, but I suggest keeping the summary section and the response section separated.
Instructions:
To complete this assignment, write your paper using Microsoft Word (or other software that lets you save a file in Microsoft Word format. Without getting help from anyone, proofread and revise your paper until you are happy with it. Be sure to format the essay and the documentation in MLA style to the best of your ability. When you have a paper you are happy with saved to your hard drive, click “Add Content” below and then attach a file (press the paperclip icon) from your hard drive. As soon as you have uploaded your rough publish, you should be assigned the rough publishs of other students for peer review (if you are one of the first to turn in your rough publish, you may need to wait a day or two to see peer papers). For any assignment to be considered complete, it must be uploaded correctly in the right format. These steps make my grading tools on Blackboard available. Other ways of turning in the paper add steps and complexity to the process and can result in me being unable to provide detailed feedback of the nature I prefer and your classmates being unable to provide peer review.
