Using our first lecture on Introduction to Philosophical Issues and the PowerPoint slides and
reading, explain the relationship between the etymological definition of philosophy (“Love of
Wisdom”) and the robust definition (“Philosophy is the sustained event of reflection (abstraction,
introspection, invoking probing questions, etc.) catalyzed by wonder, awe or curiosity, which is
compelled to know the whole and its parts). In other words, show how these two definitions

Explain the relationship between the three acts of the mind and Metaphysics. In other words, in
light of the definition of Metaphysics and what the three acts of the mind are, what, do you think,
is the relationship between reality and simple apprehension, judging, and reasoning are?
